Did Zach Galifianakis want Mel Gibson out of The Hangover 2? Since news broke yesterday that Mel Gibson is no longer associated with a cameo role in The Hangover 2, plenty of rumors are bubbling up that Zach Galifianakis may have been one castmember unhappy with Gibson’s involvement.
In a recent Comedy Death Ray Radio podcast, Zach Galifianakis talks about not having “a lot of control” and being in “deep protest” about a movie he was working on. It’s unclear if Galifianakis is talking about Hangover 2 or even about Mel Gibson, for that matter.
It’s also unclear if Zach Galifianakis isn’t just completely joking around, as he so often does.
Here’s the Zach Galifianakis Comedy Death Ray Radio quote it’s certainly ambiguous enough to draw plenty of Mel Gibson/Hangover 2 conclusions:
“But a movie you’re acting in, you don’t have a lot of control — you just show up and vomit your lines out. I’m not the boss. I’m in a deep protest right now with a movie I’m working on, up in arms about something. But I can’t get the guys to [listen] … I’m not making any leeway,…It has something to do with a movie I’m working on, yeah. I’ll tell you about it later. It’s very frustrating.”
The Hangover 2 director Todd Phillips talked about cutting Mel Gibson from the film yesterday, saying, “I thought Mel would have been great in the movie, but I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”
Mel Gibson was to play a tattoo artist.
Watch Zach Galifianakis get the “Between Two Ferns” treatment in this interview video clip for “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” hilarious.
