I truly believe that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth. No really, it is. And apparently I’m not the only one believes this as fact. It’s not just me, my neighbors and the guy behind the register at the supermarket. And celebrities, they love Disneyland too. Perhaps some go for just their kids, but me thinks that some of them probably love Disneyland just as much if not more…
Over the weekend I ventured to Anaheim for the premiere of Disney’s California Adventure’s stunning World of Color extravaganza. In attendance on the red blue carpet were such luminaries as Teri Hatcher, Jamie Lee Curtis, Peter Facinelli, Wayne Brady and Geena Davis. The stars did their work. They dutifully posed for photos, talked to the media and looked incredibly impressed at the first performance of World of Color (even when they had to grab their jackets, scarves or whatever was handy to protect themselves from stray water spray due to uncooperative winds.)
But they didn’t just go to see World of Color (although many would think that would be worth the trip on it’s own), they also came to go do the park…
On my first day to the Magic Kingdom, we immediately hit Fantasyland at the request of my four-year-old daughter. That’s when we had our first celebrity sighting. Riding the tea cups was Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder, with his signature long hair wrapped up and hidden under his baseball cap. He was there with his kids and pals, who just happened to be Laura Dern and her husband musician Ben Harper who were there with their wee ones. It was sweet to see how happy Laura and Ben, in full Lakers gear, seemed together, stealing a passionate kiss while the kids were on the Dumbo ride.
The next day in New Orleans Square we spied Jamie Lee Curtis and her extensive family and friends heading towards The Haunted Mansion. Jamie kept well hidden in dark sunglasses, a straw hat and proudly sported her commemorative World of Color sweatshirt.
We didn’t see Teri Hatcher at the park but she said she’d been taking her girl to Disneyland all her life, and her personal favorite ride is Space Mountain.
Also this week Halle Berry was seen with her daughter Nalah along with her baby daddy, Gabriel Aubry. Playing nice in kiddie paradise. Also spotted? Christian Bale and his daughter taking a ride on the Alice in Wonderland Ride.
Yup, Mickey has his fans. And if you’re at Disneyland and are keeping a keen eye out for celebrities I have one star sighting tip, whenever you see one of the plaid clad V.I.P. guide there is sure to be some sort of celebrity, or very lucky civilian close by.
