Dr. Phil Buys New Mansion to Be Closer to Granddaughter

Dr. Phil McGraw will be “telling it like it is” in a new mansion which is located closer to his son’s family, including first granddaughter Avery, 4 months.  The king of keepin’ it real and wife Robin also wanted a bigger home to accommodate their expanding family. A source says, “They wanted to be closer to their new granddaughter, Avery,” who is the first child for son Jay McGraw, the executive producer of The Doctors.

The new home is reportedly more expensive than their old digs, an eight-bedroom number which you can buy for a cool $16.5 million. The McGraws bought the home in 2002 for $7.5 million (why the steep price increase? Did nobody tell them the housing market faltered?). It includes a main house, a detached guesthouse, an outdoor dining room, a pool, a theater, a gym, a billiards room, temperature-controlled wine storage, eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

Their recent purchase is “a French Mediterranean style home that he and his wife Robin have been admiring for years.”  It is on a hill with gorgeous views and off the celebrity home tour bus route unlike his old place, so it will afford his family more privacy. Oh, and there’s a separate one-bedroom guest house, perhaps for when Oprah comes to visit?
