Drew Barrymore Can't Wait to Be a Mom!Shana Aborn
In the hubbub of all the late-summer births – Snooki, Giuliana Rancic, Tori Spelling and Vanessa Lachey, to name a few – it’s easy to remember that there are plenty of other famous ladies whose bumps are still burgeoning.
For instance, there’s Drew Barrymore. She’s been keeping a low profile since her wedding to Will Kopelman a few months ago (oh, that gorgeous dress!), but she’s been spotted around town taking yoga classes. Rumor has it that she has only a few weeks to go till her due date; pal Cameron Diaz threw her a shower early last month.
In a new interview with Haute Living magazine (as reported by Us Weekly), the actress revealed that she’s more than ready to start her new life as a parent.
“I can’t wait till I have my children,” says Drew. “I love the idea that they don’t have to do anything they have no interest in, that they can do something completely opposite if they want to.”
Perhaps this outlook comes of having been born to one of America’s most distinguished acting families and starting her own career as the precocious costar in E.T., but she’s perfectly happy to let her own youngsters choose their own path.
“I will be so surprised if they don’t want to do something involving food or wine or art, but I’ll be okay with it,” she says. “I just want to build fun, great things for my family.”
Ironically, one of Drew’s current passions is something she hasn’t been able to indulge in for a while!
The star of Going the Distance is also a winemaker with an award-winning Pinot Grigio to her name. She’s in the process of creating a red wine now.
She tells the magazine that she’s very hands-on in choosing just the right vineyard and bottlers. “I wanted to put it out there because wine is about tradition and family,” she says. “Putting your name on something and having no idea how it came about if someone else did all the work – that’s not me.”
Life is as sweet as a good vintage for Drew. “Right now, I’m getting to do the things I love and I’m so, so happy about it.”
That includes starting a family. The new baby will be commanding her attention soon, but she doesn’t plan to stop there. She said in an interview earlier this year that it would be “wonderful” to have more children.
