Leann Rimes on the cover of Shape Magazine

The editor of Shape magazine has sent an apologetic email to subscribers for putting country singer Leann Rimes on the cover of the October issue.  Rimes has come under fire for having an affair with the then-married Eddie Cibrian while she was also married to Dean Sheremet.

E!Online states that in the email, editor-in-chief Valerie Latona wrote;

“You are all in good company (why I’m e-mailing you all together) as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover,”

“Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal—but to show (through her story) how we all are human. And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment.

“But it did not come across that way…And for that I’m terribly sorry. I hope that we can do better the next time for those of you that will give us another chance.”

“Humbly, Valerie.”

Now I don’t personally think that what LeAnn did was right but I’m not sure that the fact that she’s on the cover of Shape Magazine really has anything to do with that.  Is it really up to a fitness magazine to reflect anyone’s particular moral standing?  She does have an incredible body and in the interview she does talk about how she used exercise to help her cope with the breakup of her marriage.

Do you think that Shape magazine had anything to apologize for when they put LeAnn Rimes on the cover, or is what she does in her personal life none of our business?
