El DeBarge has put his comeback on hold and checked into rehab for substance abuse issues.
The R&B singer announced last night that he would cancel his tour just days before it was set to kick off February 17th in Houston, Texas.
“I hate to disappoint my fans but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone,” he said.
The “Rhythm of the Night” singer released the statement saying he is taking a time out to finally address his substance abuse.
DeBarge was in the midst of a huge comeback after putting his career on hold for 16 years. His new album, “Second Chance,” was released last November and he was just about to go on tour.
DeBarge is best known for the hits “Who’s Johnny” and “Love Always” and for his collaborations with Tone Loc, Quincy Jones, Fourplay and DJ Quik.
