Elin Nordegren has finally spoken her peace after nine months of silence. She talked to People magazine, apparently her only planned interview after her divorce from Tiger Woods was finalized on Monday.
She said the People interview is her first and last statement on the issue. “I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children.”
It’s surprising that Tiger Woods didn’t hold out for a negotiated silence in his divorce settlement. Was she only entitled to do one interview?
It makes you wonder, what else was in the divorce settlement? Will she be able share her story in other mediums, for example, write a book?
According to divorce court papers, Elin and Tiger will share custody of both Sam, 3, and 18-month-old Charlie. The papers also indicate that the pair underwent parenting classes online.
Nordegren shares that she is studying to get a degree in psychology, noting that “I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself.”
Stronger and richer. Reports estimate her settlement to be anywhere from $100 to $500 million. After all that Elin has been through, she deserves it – and a fresh new start.
