Elizabeth Taylor’s funeral will be today. Elizabeth Taylor will be buried at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, according to Entertainment Tonight. Taylor’s quick burial is in the Jewish tradition, because Elizabeth Taylor converted to Judaism in 1959 before her marriage to Jewish singer Eddie Fisher, her fourth husband.
The iconic movie actress was expected to be laid to rest at another cemetery but her death certificate indicated she will be buried at Forest Lawn. Elizabeth Taylor died Wednesday at the age of 79 of congestive heart failure. Forest Lawn is the same cemetery where Michael Jackson is entombed.
In a statement to the media on Wednesday, Taylor’s family announced that the funeral would be a private affair and that a memorial service will be announced soon. In the same statement, Michael Howard Wilding, 58, paid tribute to his mother:
“My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love. Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.”
