Erin Barry: Mom of two has been a fierce child advocate

Before she was accused of carrying on a steamy text-ramarital affair with Tony Parker, Erin Barry was the last person you’d expect to get wrapped up in such a mess. In fact, she was a model mom of two adorable boys and Brent Barry’s adoring wife, who once told San Antonio Woman magazine that her husband “still makes me laugh, and he makes me feel special; it’s never about him.”

She met Brent when they were both students at Catholic high school. They have been together ever since, and Erin became involved in all sorts of admirable causes, drawing on her background as a child who was given up for adoption by a single mom to become a court-appointed special advocate and a juvenile court caseworker.

She worked on legislation to benefit children while Brent played for the Spurs. And she has said she enjoyed an uncomplicated home life with her husband and sons, preferring jeans and sweatshirts to going out on the town.

Sadly, the divorce proceedings for her and Brent have already begun, four years after she told San Antonio Woman this: “We get the biggest kick out of each other; I just enjoy his company,” she says. “After all these years, he’s my best friend. I want to be with him all the time. People always talk about how hard marriage is, and I’m asking myself, ‘Is it me? Is there something I’m not doing right?’ Because for me, being married to Brent isn’t hard at all!”
