Exclusive Interview With Molly Shannon: The 'SNL' Vet Talks Motherhood, Redefining Herself, and Joining 'The Middle'

Molly Shannon redefines her career.

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Saturday Night Live vet Molly Shannon to talk about her upcoming children’s book Tilly the Trickster, joining the cast of The Middle, and redefining herself as a working mother.

Shannon chatted live from It’Sugar Candy Shop in Universal Studio, California, where she was in the mood for some new Skinny Cow candy! The Skinny Cow brand made a generous donation to one of Shannon’s most favorite non-profit organizations called Reading Is Fundamental which promotes children’s literacy. And speaking of literacy, Shannon’s new children’s book, Tilly the Trickster, is available now on Amazon.

Shannon is a huge fan of Skinny Cow’s vision of redefining candy and in light of that, I took some time to delve into Shannon’s view on how she redefined her career as a working mom. She said “My life was so different all those years I did SNL. I was in my 20′s and just trying to make it as an actress. I was very work oriented”

She added, “I then really wanted kids and to have a relationship. So I put my focus on that. Now, my life has changed so much and I love being a mom. The hard work I did in my 20′s, has now granted me the ability to sit back and enjoy what comes to me.”

Her tips to other moms on balancing your life? “Embrace your life.”
