Facebook Down While New Features Are Implemented

facebook

Facebook Shut Down Today (Dec. 16).

Gasp! More than 550 million Facebook users, including many celebrities, found themselves unable to log on to their profiles for a duration of about 30 minutes at 4:15PM ET today. Reportedly, there was a leak of internal prototypes to the public, which caused the company to take the site down for a short time.

The outtage occured as Facebook began to unveil a set of new features including redesigned brand pages, a new photo section and the ability to go back and forth between different accounts without having to log in and out.

When users attempted to log on, they were bombarded with an empty white screen. And panic ensued.

Facebook is running once again with the following message upon logon: “We are currently investigating sitewide issues that will affect Facebook Platform. We apologize for any inconvenience and will post here with updates.”

Whatever would we do without complete and total access to celebrity pages and fan clubs that consume Facebook? Hopefully, we will never have to find out.
