Faith Hill's Live Performance With The Pretenders On Super Bowl Eve

Last night, Faith Hill joined up with the legendary rock band The Pretenders for CMT Crossroads: The Pretenders and Faith Hill Live From Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam. The live concert took place in live from Grand Prairie, Texas.

Just days prior to the performance, Faith Hill sat down to talk to CMT Insider about singing with The Pretenders.

Until this week, Faith Hill and Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde hadn’t met, but they talked twice on the phone to discuss song selection and arrangements.

When asked about why she decided to work with Pretenders, Faith said that she definitely listened to the Pretenders when she was growing up. She thinks that Chrissie Hynde has a distinctive voice and style, and that her writing is similar to country music.

She was also quoted as saying “It’s gonna be fun. I’m looking forward to it”, although she was nervous about performing live because “…it brings another whole element to the show”.

As for the set list, she was very excited that both “Brass in Pocket” and “I’ll Stand by You,” were included and said she was really excited to sing “I’ll Stand By You”.

Faith Hill has strong ties to football – she sings the theme song for Monday night games! Her pick for today’s Super Bowl winner? “It could go either way,” she says. “I feel like the Green Bay Packers are going to win. It’s going to be a high-scoring game, and it’s going to be close.”
