Is today intolerance day and I missed the announcement? The same day that Marie Claire writer Maura Kelly‘s screed against fat people became an internet sensation, Arkansas school board member Clint McCance is making headlines of his own for some totally disgusting behavior.
McCance, a member of the Midland School Board in northern Arkansas, reportedly posted incredibly hurtful anti-gay remarks on his Facebook page, according to the web site of The Advocate, the national gay issues magazine. And already today on Facebook, there’s a Fire Clint McCance page that has almost 20,000 members.
Last week, when people across the country wore purple to show support for bullied gay and lesbian youth, McCance put on Facebook that he would only wear purple “if they all commit suicide.”
Here’s the full comment (allegedly; it’s under investigation):” Seriously they want me to wear purple because five queers killed themselves. The only way im wearin it for them is if they all commit suicide. I can’tbelieve the people of this world have gotten this stupid. We are honoring the fact that they sinned and killed thereselves because of their sin.”
The sentiment is just disgusting. And the grammar is a sin itself. I hope he gets dismissed if he really wrote this. What do you think?
