She almost went deaf. Florence was diagnosed with a bone deformation in her middle ear in the mid-1950s that almost caused her to lose her hearing. She underwent surgery to correct the problem.
She’s been married twice and has four children. Henderson and Ira Bernstein were married in January 1956. The couple had four children – Barbara, Joseph, Robert, and Elizabeth. She divorced Bernstein in 1985 after 29 years of marriage. Florence later married Dr. John Kappas, a hypnotherapist she had met while battling depression, in 1987. They remained married until his death in 2002.
She was the ultimate working mom. Despite playing the iconic 70s housewife on television, in reality Florence was the ulimate working mother. While she was busy filming The Brady Bunch in Los Angeles, her husband resided in their New York home with their children. She would fly home to be with the family on weekends.
She has another outside of acting. Inspired by her experience with her second husband and her own experience battling depression, Florence studied hypnotherapy and is a licensed therapist.
She has her own talk show. She has been the host of her own talk show, The Florence Henderson Show, since 2008. The show which aires on RLTV (Retirement Living TV) was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2010
