From Reginald Hercules Dwight To Elton John: Celebrities Who Have Changed Their Name For Their Careers (Photos)

Screen Shot 2013-02-21 at 2.26.07 PMUnfortunately for Hollywood, not every celebrity out there is born with a rock star name (although if you have parents like Gwen Stefani or Mariah Carey, you could be in luck). Fortunately though, changing your name from Reginald Hercules Dwight to Elton John will make you the coolest cat in the universe, ever.

Sure, we might know many of our favorite celebrity moms and dads by their Hollywood names (like for example Amber Rose rather than her birthname of Amber Rosenchuck), but did you know that Kate Middleton’s real name is Catherine Elizabeth Mountbatten-Windsor or that Whoopi Goldberg was actually born Caryn Elaine Johnson? These stars not only take it upon themselves to change their looks and their lifestyles, but their entire names, too!

Check out our photo gallery of other celebrities who have changed their name for their sake of their celebrity, and let us know what you think. You will never guess who Eleanor Gow was back in the day!

Natalie Portman changed her last name from Hershlag, because quite frankly, I'm sure a lot of journalists would have mixed up her name and called her Natalie Hersey's Bar anyway. Good thinking, Nat!

Michael Keaton was actually born Michael Douglas, but because he didn't want to add to any of the confusion in Hollywood between the two actors, he changed his last name. The things you do for your celebrity!
