An arrest warrant has been issued in Jackson, Mississippi for television host and actor Gary Collins. What should have been just a minor fender for Collins is turning into a media manhunt after the host decided to leave the scene of an accident.
It all started innocently enough with police being called to the scene of a minor accident after Collins reportedly rear-ended the car in front of him at a stoplight. To his credit, Collins did stop and exchange information with the other driver but apparently he opted to leave when he felt the police took too long to respond to the call for assistance.
Why would Collins leave the scene?
While it may be true that Collins was in a hurry and had no time to wait for the police following hte accident, he does have a bit of a track record when it comes to driving infractions involving the police. Since 2002, Collins has been charged with three counts of driving under the influence. He was found not guilty at trial for the first charge, plead no contest to the second charge for which he was sentenced to four days in jail and four years probation, and plead no contest to the third charge for which he was sentenced to 120-days under house arrest. The police are waiting for a judge to sign off on the arrest warrant for the most recent incident.
