This week has a very special hue tinting it, it is green week.  A week where we all celebrate our Mother Earth and become more mindful of how we can protect and preserve the planet we live on. And some of the people who are putting their money, their time and their fame to good use to help the earth and its inhabitants? Celebrities.

They have the cash to make large contributions and their names bring not just attention to the causes they back but also encourages others to get involved – be it monetary or through volunteer work.

Last year Matt Damon was named the “Greenest Celebrity” by the Heart of Green Awards. Matt has put his money, energy and name on trying to provide clean water to those who need it by co-founding H20 Africa. He also started Water.org that, as The Daily Green states, “combines web 2.0 savvy, micro-loans and star power into a global, action-focused movement that is digging wells, safeguarding supplies and advocating for justice around the world, especially in distressed regions like Haiti.”
