Groundhog Day Movie Quotes

Today is February 2, 2011, and we are all anxiously awaiting to hear if the groundhog will see his shadow this Groundhog Day. Are we in for six more weeks of winter? I really hope not considering that most of the nation is buried in snow. Where is that global warming thing that people were all hyped up about?

We’ve compiled a list of Groundhog Day quotes from Bill Murray’s famous Groundhog Day movie to get you into the spirit of Groundhog Day 2011. You can also watch a video clip from Groundhog Day below.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from Bill Murray’s character, Phil Connors, in the film:

“Somebody asked me today, “Phil, if you could be anywhere in the world, where would you like to be?” And I said to him, “Prob’ly right here – Elko, Nevada, our nation’s high at 79 today.” Out in California, they’re gonna have some warm weather tomorrow, gang wars, and some *very* overpriced real estate. Up in the Pacific Northwest, as you can see, they’re gonna have some very, very tall trees.”

“Ned, I would love to stand here and talk with you… but I’m not going to.”

“Come on, all the long distance lines are down? What about satellite? Is it snowing in space? Don’t you keep open a line for emergencies or for celebrities? I’m both. I’m a celebrity in an emergency.”

“People like blood sausage, too. People are morons.”

“Chance of departure today, one hundred percent.”

“What if there is no tomorrow? There wasn’t one today.”

“Well, it’s Groundhog Day… again…”

“Nancy, she works in a dress shop… and she makes sounds like a chipmunk when she gets really excited.”

“This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype.”

“There is no way this winter is ever going to end, as long as this groundhog keeps seeing his shadow. I don’t see any other way out. He’s got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.”
