As if winning an Oscar, marrying a rockstar, having two adorable children, and creating an immensely popular lifestyle website weren’t enough, it appears Gwyneth Paltrow is adding country music star to her list of credits.
For her upcoming indie film Country Strong, the multi-talented mom of two dusted off the microphone and hit the recording studio to record the movie’s title track. With the support of her friends including Reese Witherspoon and Faith Hill, Paltrow laid down the track that is starting to garner attention and get radio play.
“What the hell?” she laughs at the unlikely success of the song. “I was just singing songs for the movie. I think the original plan was they wanted the bona bide crew to re-sing our songs, but when [then Sony Music Nashville chair] Joe Galante heart it, he was like, ‘No, I want to release this as a single.’ I was like ‘Excuse me, please?'”
The song’s ultimate success may stem from some of the special guest vocals providing support to the A-list mom from Vince Gill and Patty Griffin.
“They were added in later,” Paltrow explains. “I did my vocal, and then Bryon Gallimore, the producer, was like, ‘You know, I just think Vince would sing so well on this.’ I was lik, ‘There’s no way.’ And he f***ing got Vince Gill to sing on the track! It’s crazy. I’m so humbled.”
Just Jared has a copy of the track if you want a sneak peak.
