Halle Berry Calls Gabriel Aubry a "Loser"? Poor Nahla!

Well, so much for keeping things civil for Nahla’s sake.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry’s increasingly acrimonious split splashed across the news stands again today, with US Weekly claiming that Berry called Aubry “a loser”.

Stop the presses! Woman calls ex-boyfriend a loser! I have absolutely never heard that one before.

All kidding aside, the name-calling is apparently a function of Aubry’s paltry earnings as a model, compared to Berry’s mega-living as an Academy Award winning actress. Apparently, Berry was in the habit of taunting Aubry about his living, and claiming that he wasn’t making enough for Nahla. So what exactly is Aubry making? Oh you know, just a mere $700,000. A year.

I have come no where near earning that in the course of my lifetime, but you know, whatever. I am sure his measly earnings got in the way of buying Nahla her own solid gold pony or diamond encrusted Keds or whatever it is that Berry thought Nahla should be getting, but wasn’t, with such a sorry sack of a father.

Of course the real issue here is Nahla, and not how much money it takes to support her, but how all the back and forth between her parents is going to affect her.

Yesterday, reports suggested that Aubry was planning on suing Berry for custody in an attempt to rescue Nahla from the bright lights of Hollywood and give her a more normal upbringing in Canada. Is that really the issue, or is it payback for some of the mudslinging that has been going on since the announcement last week?

A suggestion for both of them: the best upbringing they can give Nahla is the one where they refrain from calling each other names, issuing press releases and threatening legal action. Just sayin’. If it is true that they decided to end their relationship months ago, then these two should have had plenty of time to work out these issues and to gear themselves up to behave like adults.

Let’s just hope they cut all this out and return to the spirit of civility they promised last week. If not for themselves, then for Nahla.
