It’s time to get to work, my dear friends, as you’ve only got one week left to pick out your perfect Halloween costume!
Now, I’ve already shown you the best pop culture Halloween ideas from the 1980s (which included Alf, Strawberry Shortcake, and, of course, my favorite — Jem!), and now we’re going back in time once again, but this time to everyone’s favorite decade of cool: the 1990s.
Check out my slideshow of Halloween costume ideas that include Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell, Carlton Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and, of course, Balki from Perfect Strangers (I just couldn’t leave him out!). Let us know what you think!
’90s Pop Culture Halloween Ideas 1 of 12
Balki Bartokomous, Perfect Strangers 2 of 12
It's Balki from Perfect Strangers! Didn't you just love watching him on that show? Okay, you might not have, but I sure did. Really, all you need is a printed vest, a little chest hair, and THAT ACCENT. Man, was he cute! Too bad TV Land doesn't air reruns of this show!
Zack Morris, Saved By the Bell 3 of 12
Zack Morris! I don't think there was a female alive who didn't have a big crush on Zack during his Saved By The Bell days (and at the same time hated Kelly Kapowski, too). All you need is a little bit of hair bleach, a lot of hair gel, a denim button down shirt, and enough charm to get you out of after-school detention! And, of course, a brick phone and the ability to "Time Out" when in need!
Dawson Leery, Dawson’s Creek 4 of 12
Ah, Dawson from Dawson's Creek. This is easy: part hair, put on a blue shirt and jeans, and be totally over emotional about EVERYTHING you do on Halloween night. Yeah, that's exactly how we all were back in high school in 1998. But most importantly, part the hair!
Joey Tribbiani as Chandler Bing, Friends 5 of 12
This was the funniest Halloween episode from Friends — EVER. You get total bonus points if you can manage to dress up as Joey dressed up as Chandler. TOO FUNNY!
Monica: You didn't dress up, either!
Joey: Yes I did, I'm Chandler! Raawwwww.
Blossom Russo, Blossom 6 of 12
My gosh, I so wanted to be Blossom when I was in the 5th grade. The vests! The HATS! The sweaters. The awesome brother and best friend. The cooler-than-you attitude. And, of course, a hand-held video camera.
Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer 7 of 12
Want to be Buffy for Halloween? All you need to do is be the baddest chick from '90s television and, of course, don a black tank top. I mean, she wore black tank tops in almost EVERY episode, right?
Uncle Jesse, Full House 8 of 12
Uncle Jesse! My gosh, John Stamos hasn't aged in two decades! All you need to do is slick on some hair gel and sing this song to your Rebecca Donaldson. Apologies if this makes you tear up a little bit! I've been so happy loving you ... forever ... forever ...
Clarissa Darling, Clarissa Explains It All 9 of 12
Clarissa explains '90s fashion! Denim, vests, a headband, clip-on bangs, and you're good. And, of course, Doodle Tools!
Tommy Pickles, Rugrats 10 of 12
It's Tommy Pickles from the Rugrats! Just put on a blue shirt and diaper and you're good! Seriously though, the opening credits to this show brings back so many great memories. Nickelodeon, you were so part of my life between 1991-1993.
Jesse Spano, Saved By the Bell 11 of 12
It's Jesse Spano from Saved By the Bell! All you need to do is tease that hair, baby, and put on a white shirt and the most acid washed jeans you can find from your 1991-era closet. Just stay away from the caffeine pills!
Carlton Banks, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 12 of 12
Of course I could have gone with Will from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but let's be real here. That show was all about CARLTON BANKS. The way he moved, the way he danced, and the way he just stole everyone's hearts makes him my ultimate favorite character from that show. Really, you don't need a costume to be Carlton, all you need to do is bust out some Carlton moves and just WATCH THE LADIES SWOON. The music gets me going each time!
