Halloween Flashback! The Best Pop Culture Halloween Costumes Of Our Childhood (Photos)Joanna Mazewski
Whenever you think of past Halloweens, surely you think of the ones that happened during our childhood (because really, that’s where the best Throwback Thursday pictures come from on Instagram!). There was nothing more that made us as happy as our GI Joe, Smurfs, and Barbie costumes from back in the day! They were simple, they were fun, and most importantly, they had masks that would totally conceal our faces, making it incredibly difficult to see and breathe in. Yep, totally fun! Ahhh, the ’80s!
I’m sure that you’ve noticed that while parents these days go the extra mile to sew, glitter, and sparkle our children’s over-the-top and VERY original Halloween costumes (have you seen all of those costumes that look like they just came off a Hollywood movie set??), the plastic masks and simple fabric costumes from our childhood made us just as happy. In fact, we might have had more fun, as we had more room to maneuver and run around than most of the elaborate costumes that you see today.
Plus, did we ever wear “Naughty Leopard” costumes for toddlers during our day? Nope, I didn’t think so!
Check out our photo gallery of some of the best (and most nostalgic!) Halloween costumes from the ’80s and let us know what you think. Did you wear any of these?

OMG. Could you imagine dressing up as an adult-sized Cabbage Patch doll? For some reason I just can't look away even though I am totally creeped out by these. I'm just getting these visions of a future Miley Cyrus video with these costumes.

OMG, everyone. OMG. I had this EXACT costume when I was 6 years old back in 1986. I'm almost tempted to buy this for my daughter, even though the mask is a bit creepy looking. Well but then again, all the masks from these 1980s costumes were a little creepy looking! Still, this costume makes my heart feel warm. Very warm.
