When viewers first met Farrah Abraham on the original Teen Mom series, she was a struggling teen raising her baby daughter, Sophia, having issues with her mother and trying to cope with the tragic loss of Sophia’s dad, Derek. Depression and drug use complicated her life even further.
Flash forward to 2013. Now Farrah is a happy (and sober) young adult, a successful author (her autobiography, My Teenage Dream Ended, landed on The New York Times‘ e-book bestseller list) and a cook with ambitions of getting her sauce line onto shelves across America.
As for Sophia, she’s a lovely and sweet young lady who just turned four this weekend!
Farrah wanted to do something special for her daughter to honor the occasion. Her first thought was to take her on a cruise, but as she tells Sulia, the recent disastrous Carnival trip made her think twice. “I didn’t want to put Sophia in a bad stranded out at sea situation,” she says.
Instead, Mom surprised her little sweetheart with birthday cake in bed. Later, the two went out for a day at the circus, where they enjoyed watching the stunt dirt bikers, clowns and the classic man-shot-from-a-cannon act. Sophia also got to leap around in a variety of bounce houses.
But the highlight for Sophia was getting to ride some of the animals: a miniature pony, camel and even an elephant! Farrah joined her atop the massive pachyderm, trying to keep her jitters at bay. “Sophia handled it better than myself,” she admits. “I was scared, no lie, and Sophia thought it was the coolest thing ever so I acted like I had no worries too.”
The proud mom shared a message to her big girl on Twitter: “Without your love, joy, positivity & much more you put in my life I don’t know where I would be, your the best!”
