Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Trailer! Will The Movie Be Too Scary For Kids? (Video)
The Harry Potter films have gotten incrementally darker. While the first movie was an all-ages, feel good flick full of Bertie Botts and quidditch, the last movie raised parental eyebrows over violence and the death of a character. Some moms and dads decided that it should be put on the Banned Till Your Older Movie List and others decided it was a good segue into a conversation about death, dying and loss.
Whether or not you take your child is your own discretion, but the final film (broken into two parts) is said to be the most frightening. It doesn’t have a rating yet and there have been rumors that the people who decide exactly what letter to assign will have some trouble.
The plot centers around Harry, Ron and Hermione’s attempts to find and destroy the Horcruxses, the secret to Voldemort’s immortality and destruction. Cast includes such star-powered names as Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Griffiths, John Hurt, Bill Nighy, Alan Rickman, Imelda Staunton and Julie Walters.
From the looks of the trailer, this is not for young children. However, it’s no doubt this is going to be a great film, whether or not you need to call the babysitter.

The movie looks epic! I think they’ll do all they can to keep at PG-13, since giving it an R rating will decrease its fan-base. But that’s just what I think. If it does get an R rating, I wouldn’t be surprised. And even then, I’m sure many parents will still take their kids to see it.
I’m not a parent, but if I was I would most definitely, not take my kids to see this. Totally on the Banned To See When You’re Older list. The movie really looks PG-13 flirting with R rating like The Dark Knight.
It’s to be expected that there will be parents taking along their kids as an endurance thing: “My kid can take it!” Can anyone spell PTSD? And what with all the distracting noise, who wants to go to the cinema anymore?
im a teenager and i think the banned until your older list is a bunch of crap!!!! i hope its rated R i really want it to be R and if its R i would still take a 11 or 12 year old. the thing is parents try to protect there kids from things that the kids will learn from school anyway! anyway i really hopes it is R that will make the movie soooooooo much better.
