Note to famous women: If you want to have children someday, keep that bit of information to yourself – that is, if you’d like to make it through the next few years without the media asking you for updates at every interview and drawing conclusions every time you wear a loose-fitting shirt or order a diet soda instead of a Merlot.
It’s been a few weeks since we’ve heard anything on the subject from Khloe Kardashian, so sure enough, today the rumors are flying yet again that she’s getting medical help in order to start a family with hubby Lamar Odom.
Today, two gossip sites claim to have the inside word that Khloe is somewhere in the process of undergoing fertility treatments. TMZ says that she just had an initial consultation at Beverly Hills’ ART Reproductive Center, where doctors will design a personalized program for her based on the results of her blood work.
HollywoodLife, on the other hand, says that she’s “currently going through fertility treatments” – and that she’s hoping it will pay off in a big way.
“They are aware that fertility [treatments] may pose the chance of twins,” says the HL source. “Their take on that is, ‘The more, the merrier!’ ”
Khloe has been the subject of fertility-doc rumors before, and she has denied them every time. She’s said that she’s tired of the pressure to have a baby and of people trying to give her baby gifts. A lovemaking schedule of “three to five times a week,” she has said, was all she and Lamar were going to try for the time being.
Undergoing treatments like IVF isn’t an easy decision. Not only is it costly and painful – daily hormone shots are the norm – but it’s psychologically difficult to realize that your body isn’t able to do what millions of other women’s bodies do with no problem.
If the persistent rumors are true this time, then Khloe has done some serious soul-searching and is in for weeks or months of inconvenience, pain and heightened hopes.
If they’re not, then she’s cringing anew at being the target of the gossipers – and enduring stress she doesn’t need.
Either way, she needs all the good wishes she can get.
