Holly Robinson Peete The Talk leaving contract fired

Holly Robinson Peete leaving The Talk

It’s official. Holly Robinson Peete is leaving The Talk. Why was Holly Robinson Peete fired from The Talk?

After Leah Remini announced she was leaving the talk show, it was only a matter of time before we found out Robinson Peete was fired as well.

As her contract was yet to be renewed, and buzz of replacement co-hosts started to build (Kate Gosselin on The Talk?), the writing was on the wall for Holly.

Holly shared news of getting fired from The Talk on her website, where she discussed her disappointment, but said she was thankful for the platform to bring awareness to families affected by autism:

“After weeks in limbo, I was finally “officially” given word from CBS today that I have not been picked up for the 2nd season of The TALK. I realize there have been several reports and “leaks” for sometime to this effect but until today I was not contractually released which prevented me from moving on and finding other work.

While I am relieved to have this closure, it doesn’t diminish my disappointment one bit about not continuing with a show I worked very hard to launch and love dearly.”

“I want to thank The TALK viewers and those who supported and rallied around me and expressed appreciation for the humor and heart I attempted to bring to the table… You lifted me!

But by far, what I will miss the most: the amazing platform to spread awareness about families affected by autism and special needs. Just know that I will never stop speaking for you, and sharing your stories…EVER.”

Read Holly Robinson Peete’s full statement. Will you still watch The Talk without Leah and Holly? I smell a boycott.

  3. Dawn Cacioppo says:

I see the person who should have been fired is still there,Julie!!Of course, her husband runs the show.I won’t be watching it anymore, the two ladies that brought the humor are gone and we’re left with middle aged, uptight, bores!!

  4. Antoinette says:

I could not wait until the new season of the Talk to start. But very disappointed to see that Leah and Holly were missing from the table. The dynamic of the group was great.
Leah and Holly were very funny and made the show very special.

  5. Marietta Thurlow says:

No I am not going to watch the talk anymore i watched today but was just tooo blah. Unfortunatly for them they took off the wrong one. Sara and Julie (the hog of the show) should of been taken off. They will learn when they have to replace this show due to poor ratings

  6. Debbie says:

I was shocked to see both Holly and Leah both gone from the show today. My mom had told me over the weekend she had read they were not returning to the show. You lost two great women that were an asset to “The Talk”. What a let down with the replacements.

The show will not be the same. Honestly, I don’t think I can watch it anymore. Just not worth it.

  7. faedra says:

I only watched the talk because of Holly, Sharon and Leah, well since they are both gone I will switch back to The View. You know, I gave it a chance but I guess if you don’t dance to Julie’s music you are out.

Its just a matter of time that the show is cancelled altogether. They were not even given a chance. Oh my bad she might be ok since she is married to the BOSS……… Good Luck, Julie I hope you need it.

  8. Jba says:

I have been constantly amazed over the past year watching Julie Chen attempt to listen to others, and be “down to earth.” Every move she makes and every word she says seems phoney. I do like Sara Gilbert and Mrs. O but the two on today with Julie was just plain boring. A little candor about why Leah and Holly were let go would have been a good move even if they were lying. Oh well, I have other shows to record.

  9. Joan Cirr says:

Totally upset to see Leah and Holly gone from the The Talk. So wrong to not let the viewers know what happened to them on your first show of the second season. First show was horrible, especially finding humor in suicide. Other than Sharon, all other host were boring. Better make some changes, and bring back Leah and Holly. If not, you have lost another viewer. They are the ones that made the show, without them it deserves to be canceled!!!!!!

  10. Rochelle says:

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I tuned in to The Talk today. Leah and Holly were the heart of the show. What idiot decided they were the two to remove? I loved the way Leah interacted with Sarah…they seemed to genuinely respect and care for each other. And Leah and Holly brought the fun…dancing and being just plain ol’ down to earth. And although I do like Cheryl Underwood, I can’t see watching her everyday…she’s a comedian so she will feel compelled to make a joke out of everything (even suicide). L & H were just naturally funny and were at their best when given their honest opinions. And if it weren’t bad enough that they are gone, there was NO MENTION of why they were gone. To just act like nothing happened is an insult. They don’t have to worry about me watching again EVER!

  11. Kathy Childers says:

I have been a fan of ”The Talk”ever since their first show. I knew it was going to be a success because they had the right mixture of people on the show. It just was so entertaining, so informative, and also gave the people of the USA something to laugh about. It was a nice diversion of the reality that most people are going through right now. My husband even enjoyed watching it with me. –Sharon cannot make it alone without Leah and Holly. They made the show!! If you look at all the comments you can see that CBS made a BIG MISTAKE!!! The show was a no. 1 hit and now, the show will not make it!! I don’t know anyone that does not feel the same way. If their were problems that Julie and Sara had with them, they should have worked it out because they had a great show that everyone anticipated and they ruined it!! The only way that CBS could come out of this ok would be to rehire Leah and Holly because that is what the fans of the show want done!!! That is the only way that this show will make it!!! No one should ever be too big or too smart to realize that they have made a Big Mistake !!! Hire them back and save the show and keep it no.1 !!!!!

  12. rain says:

I think CBS mad a minstake regarding Leah & Holly, Julie & melissa have no personality and I am sure julie is only on the show because her husband is the president of CBS. I will not watch the show anymore. Did they not think about how this would affect the fans. and using guest host like Chris Jenner and the lady with the eight children is disguisting because they both use there children to make a living

  13. shirley says:

Iam so sorry to see Holly and Leah leave the talk they not only were funny but very entertaning and informative. Now iam back to watching reruns of Walker Texas Ranger

  14. debbie says:

I loved watching the Talk especially because of Holly and Leah, Sharron but since you decided to kill the best talk show I will no longer watch the show Julie is a tv hog and always talking about her Boss and owner of CBS (Les) get over your self and Sara is a bore with her no watching tv kids! go eat some meat maybe you”ll a personality. If you were smart you”ll hire them back and fire the boring ones Julie and Sara at least you were smart enough to keep sharron.

  15. Dee Smlth says:

Holly and Leah were the backbone of the show. They were relatable, funny and entertaining. I say no, no, no to Kate Gosselin, she is not relatable, nor is she funny or entertaining. Bring back Holly and Leah PLEASE!!! Without them, I plan not to watch.

  16. Felicia Tisdale says:

What a huge mistake letting go of Holly and Leah!!! Whatever the issue(s) was it should have been worked through for the viewers. I thought the Talk was waaaaay more entertaining and interesting than The View on a bad day. Who was the idiot that made that decision? They should be out of a job! Clearly they were not connecting with the Talk’s audience at all. To finally find something on daytime TV that I loved. Now my heart is upset. I will not continue to watch the talk much longer. I really miss two of the greatest personalities the show had. Thanks Julie and the “Husband”, great job!

  17. Donna DeWitt says:

I also will say- I will NOT be watching the Talk anymore. I record every episode. I turned it on to watch the new season’s first show today & I could not believe my eyes when I didn’t see Leah & Holly!. They with Sharon were the only reason I watched the show. I hope when the show realizes what a mistake they made and they beg them to come back-I hope Holly & Leah tell them-NO. I want to see them have their own show. Now that would be the best talk show ever!
The Talk will tank now- no doubt about it!!

  18. Bev Stier says:

Holly & Leah were the show. They were smart, funny and informative. Mrs O cant carry the show. Julie is not a gem and contributes nothing to the show. It will be canelled soon. Hopefully cable or Oprah will hire Holly & Leah for a talkshow. We will all watch. I will not watch The Talk again. Thanks Holly & Leah for the great year you gave us.

  19. Maddalena says:

I also was disappointed not seeing Leah & Holly. I did not excpect them to be missing. I recorded these shows and were saving them to watch when I was able to. I thought their on vacation and will be back next week. Then I went into their names and found out they had been fired. The show was not as good, I seemed to me they all had a great repoire. I could relate to them. The show is boring without them. I recorded it the other day and deleted it. Please Leah and Holly start your own talk show. I will start recording again. Miss both of you.

  20. Brenda says:

CBS you got it all wrong again. First you ruined The Early Show by letting Dave and Harry go, NOW you ruin The Talk by firing the two best, most appreciated, funniest, most relatable ladies on the show. Leah and Holly, your humor, frankness and likability will be missed. I will no longer watch The Talk; however, if I find out where you are next – I’ll be there to watch you. Sharon is wonderful, but I understand she is going on hiatus. Julie, if this was your doing – shame on you. You made a huge mistake. Sara, you are sweet, but you and Julie probably can not make the show work – the stability is gone. Last person leaving – please turn out the lights.

  21. Susan says:

I Just found out and I am ANGRY!!!! How could they get rid of the best of (3) Sharon being the other one! Heck my 28 year old son watched the show!! Trust me he doesn’t watch the View and neither do I. Heck NO I will NEVER watch the show again and if Sharon is smart she would leave too!!!!

  22. ella carroll says:

I cannot believe they took Holly and Leah off the talk. They made the show.I liked this show much better than the view. No more–I won’t be watching anymore. I’ll be watching Wendy Williams from now on .Julie is so boring.so is Sarah

  23. Marti Carver says:

I do not like the fact that Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete were let go. I thought that all five of the women worked well together. I feel that the show is not better without both of them. Please bring them back.

  24. Tammy Shanks says:

Such a shame, the five up them were really good together. They seemed to respect themselves and eachother. I thought Holly and Leah were on vacation, they didn’t even mention them? I’ve seen it a few times since they weren’t picked up and must agree, it’s not the same. The talk is gone, not enough chemistry.
