This Friday the much anticipated film adaptation of The Hunger Games comes to theaters near and far. And although I can’t wait to see Jennifer Lawrence’s take on Katniss, Josh Hutcherson’s take on Peeta and Liam Hemsworth’s rendition of Gale, I’m really looking forward to see Elizabeth Banks’ scene stealing and colorful role as Effie Trinket.
On her Hunger Games style she told Parade that, “The director, Gary Ross, said, ‘I have this image that she’s Joel Grey in Cabaret.’ So that’s where we got the super-white skin. She is someone striving for perfection and misfiring. I also based her partly on Rosalind Russell’s version of Auntie Mame. Effie is like your crazy aunt that sits at the dining room table and says all the wrong things at dinner.”
But Elizabeth Banks doesn’t just embrace the color and fashion forward style in the film as the Capital fashion plate Effie Trinket, she embraces it in real life too. At the Hunger Games premieres in London, Paris and Los Angeles, Elizabeth wore a trio of amazing vibrant, edgy and sequined dress. I bet even Effie Trinket would approve!
