Right now, I have three loads of laundry to fold, school lunches to make, clutter to straighten and writing projects to catch up on – and that’s if nothing else unexpected happens tonight. (My young daughter just woke up, dozed for a few minutes on the sofa, then went back to her room at my urging…but not before taking a fancy party dress into bed with her.)
Who knew I had so much in common with Teresa Giudice?
The outspoken, never-dull star of Real Housewives of New Jersey and this season’s Celebrity Apprentice is busy raising her family, filming her shows, writing and promoting her books and running her house – all with practically no help.
Teresa tells HollywoodLife.com that she takes care of most of the household affairs all on her own. “Gia, Gabriella and Milania are in school all day, but Audriana [her 2-year-old] is with me. I have no help,” she says in the exclusive interview. “I get a babysitter for book signings or when I have to shoot TV and the girls can’t come along.”
And though she admits to having a cleaning lady every other week, Teresa does all the laundry, cooks all the dinners and chauffeurs the girls to their various after-school activities.
Real Housewife indeed!
And while the family could certainly afford to hire someone to help with the girls, Teresa says she decided against that long before she became a mother. “I never wanted my kids to love the nanny more than me,” she explains.
Besides, the one time she did try a nanny, the would-be Mary Poppins quit after a day because it was “too much work.”
Of course, even superwomen have their limits. Teresa recently admitted that she isn’t participating in promotions for Season 4 of RHONJ because she’s booked solid with events for her upcoming book, Fabulicious! Fast and Fit.
Nonetheless, if she’s on the level about running her house and family solo, then my hat is off to her. I have half the number of children she does and 1/16th her living space, and it’s still exhausting.
I’d go on, but I have a party dress to retrieve from a sleepwalking child.
