Let’s get one thing straight: All pregnant women want a healthy baby first and foremost. Even so, sometimes they have other things on their wish list – and there’s nothing wrong with that.
While some expectant moms sincerely don’t have a gender preference, others do hold out hopes of having one or the other. A mother of boys might want a girl to change things up a little; a first-time mom might have visions of having a boy who could be a caring big brother to future siblings. Whatever the reason, experts assure us that these desires are perfectly natural. And once that baby is born, moms wonder how they could ever have wanted anything other than what they have.
Even royals have their preferences. Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, said yesterday that both she and Prince William have separate wishes when it comes to the sex of the royal baby. (Fortunately, thanks to recent legal changes, the new arrival will be heir to the throne no matter what its gender.)
