I'm Starting To Believe Monsters University is a REAL PlaceSunny Chanel
I’m beginning to believe that Monster’s University is a real place. It’s not that I’m that gullible, delusional, or just a wee bit cray cray, but the folks at Pixar are doing such an amazing job of creating the outward appearance that Monsters University is a real place that I’m starting to believe it is.
In support of the Monsters Inc., prequel (which opens June 21st), they have created a very realist looking website that included admission policies, their academic focuses, a look at campus life and their store (of course).
In their admission page they tout their academics saying, “With the top scaring program in the country, along with four other academically rigorous schools (including notable programs in scream energy, door technology, and business), MU’s academics are second-to-none.” The site includes everything a potential Monsters University student would need from a map of the campus, to events such as movie night (this week it’s Screaming in the Rain), to an intro to their Greek Life (like Roar Omega Road, Slugma, Slugma Kappa, and Eta Hiss Hiss) and their online store is stocked with such items as their Monsters University 4-arm Hoodie.
And then there is there are things like this welcome video.
And the student made Tumblr account The Mugrumbler, a behind the scenes look at everyday Monsters University life.
Oh, and I got THIS in the mail.
Yes, it’s a beautifully executed Alumni newsletter complete with car sticker, donation request and even a return envelope. It’s so accurate it’s scary (which is fitting since it is the School of Scaring).
Yes, they are taking it seriously. And so am I. Next week I will be enrolling in Monsters University for “Freshman Orientation” at Pixar’s Emeryville campus for initiation and a very unique education on what went into making this much anticipated follow up to Monster, Inc.. Apparently there will be homework and term papers, so I’ll be sharing with you soon my notes, essays and test scores. But I can already tell you, it looks like this film is going to get an A+ from me!
