Like so many brides-to-be, Chelsea Clinton is preoccupied with shedding a few pounds before her wedding. Of course, the pounds in question don’t belong to her–they belong to her father, former President Bill Clinton.
The revelation came from none other than Bill himself, when he outed his daughter’s weight-loss demands at a fiscal summit in D.C. on Wednesday.
“You know she told me the other day she said, Dad the only thing you gotta do is walk me down the aisle and you need to look good’, Clinton recounted to Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer. “So I said Well, what’s your definition?’ And she said: Oh, about 15 pounds.'”
Where to begin…well, for starters, I feel for Bill on this one. It’s one thing for Chelsea to express a concern for his health, or quality of life. But to ask him to lose weight for the sake of his wedding pictures? Really? Pretty much the definition of Bridezilla.
That said, this was a ‘bad Dad’ moment on Bill’s part. The first rule of planning your daughter’s wedding is never talk about planning your daughter’s wedding. To a TV network host. On camera. In front of millions of people. During a global economic criss. When you’re the former President. He’s going to have to do some serious work to make this up to her.
Like, maybe go ahead and lose the 15 pounds.
What do you think? Is it okay that she asked him to lose weight for her wedding? Or does Chelsea need to chill out and realize its just a day?
