Is Kim Kardashian's Baby Really Due in June?

Kim Kardashian tries to hide her pregnancy curves in a black top and pants, as she arrives at Cecconi's with sister Kourtney in Los AngelesIf you’ve been scheduling your July activities around the births of certain high-profile celebrity babies, you might want to make some adjustments to your calendar. It seems the littlest member of the Kardashian clan will be making an appearance earlier than expected.

Kim announced back in January that her baby would arrive sometime in July, and until now, that’s been the general assumption. Today, the New York Post‘s Page Six reports that Kim attended a baby shower the other day for the fashion stylist Monica Rose, and a source overheard her saying that she’s actually due in mid-June.

Why would a mom-to-be mislead everyone like that? A number of theories abound.

The gossips are saying that Kim wants to throw the media off the scent for privacy’s sake – giving birth quietly in June while no one’s looking, then emerging with little baby West around the time the paparazzi are camping outside the big L.A. hospitals.

Having the baby in secret would also mean some much-needed quiet time to adjust to the rigors of new parenthood. Once Kim and Kanye get into the swing of diapers and sleepless nights, they’ll be better able to handle the flurry of attention without feeling stressed to the breaking point.

Then there’s that whole tedious weight issue. Like Jessica Simpson before her, Kim has been scrutinized and criticized with every ounce she gains, and she’ll be expected to bounce right back into pre-baby shape as soon as possible. Those few extra weeks would give her a good head start, allowing her to drop a couple of dress sizes in time to schedule the first magazine cover shoot.

Neither Kim nor her rep has commented yet on the rumored June due date, but now that the word is out, expect all eyes to be on her from Memorial Day onward. So much for privacy.

Do you buy the June-due-date story? Or has Kim been telling the truth about July?
