Is Queen Latifah Adopting a Baby?

Queen Latifah is ready to be a mom.

Maybe working on a kids’ film brings out the parental instinct in someone.

Queen Latifah, in New York this week to promote the opening of Ice Age: Continental Drift, told the ladies of The View today that she’s in the process of acting on her long-time dream of adopting a child.

“I’m actually kind of working on that,” the singer-actress told Barbara Walters. “I just always wanted to bring a child home.”

She went on to joke, “I’m totally serious, so if you’ve got a kid that you don’t – just give me a year – let me set up camp and send me the kid. But no, no, [I’m] totally [serious about adopting].”

But is she really?People spoke to the Queen’s rep, who insists there’s “nothing new to report” about her plans to bring a child into her life. (Latifah closely maintains her privacy about her personal life and relationships.)

But this coyness could be a hint that something might just happen in the near future. After all, plenty of other celebs have quietly adopted this year: Charlize Theron, Katherine Heigl, Ty Burrell and Jillian Michaels among them.

We’re hoping for some exciting news from Queen soon!
