Jada Pinkett Smith Asks For Californians To Support And Spread The Word To @voteyeson35 and #humantrafficking #prop35.natalieklein
With Election Day only days away, celebrities and their political endeavors are going strong. Jada Pinkett Smith and other celebrity parents are speaking in the final moments to get their points across!
On Wednesday, in Los Angeles, Jada Pinkett Smith stepped out to bring awareness on the importance of Prop 35 along with panel experts Sharmin Bock, Chris Kelly and Daphne Pung and presented testimonials of human trafficking survivors.
What is Prop 35? Prop 35? In California , many vulnerable women and children are held against their will and forced to sell their bodies. The victims are often girls as young as 12 who are exploited for the financial gain of human traffickers.
Why did Jada Pinkett Smith get involved? At 11 years old Willow Smith brought to her mothers attention that there is a modern day form of slavery right here in our backyard. Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco are the largest cities for modern day human trafficking. Jada has been working on bringing the issue of Human Trafficking to a public forum for the last year with her new initiative called DON’T SELL BODIES.
Victoria Recano Host of The Trend On Zappos Couture says.. “Jada Pinkett Smith spoke candidly about her personal connection to this important cause. She has not only leant her name to this initiative, but also much of her time and energy. It is clear how close her children are to her and how important it is for her to fight to protect all children here in California and around the world.”
If you are in California this is a very important proposition to look over! I had no idea something like this was going on and can’t believe that there are not stronger laws taking care of our families and friends.
Here are a few pieces of information: Voting YES on PROP 35 will protect our children by:
*Increasing prison terms for human traffickers
*Requiring sex traffickers to register as sex offenders
*Requiring sex offenders to disclose their internet accounts
*Increasing criminal fines to pay for victims services.
