Jada Pinkett Smith Says Daughter Willow Encouraged Her To Talk To Congress About Human Trafficking

By Joanna |

Willow Smith

Willow Smith might only be 11-years-old, but she already has some pretty heavy issues on her mind that she wants to discuss.

According to her mom Jada Pinkett Smith, the pint-sized chart topper approached and encouraged her to bring the issue of human trafficking more attention by taking the issue to Capitol Hill. Accompanied by her husband Will and their daughter, Jada advocated for a more forceful fight against human trafficking during an appearance before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday.

Jada told members of Capitol Hill that human slavery “robs us of the thing we value most, our freedom.” She also announced plans to launch a major awareness campaign.

While we agree wholeheartedly with Jada, we can’t help but wonder how Willow was so influential in speaking to her mother about a subject that most 11-year-old children are not even aware of out there. While it’s true that Willow has seen many more places in this world thanks to her celebrity status and her parents’ Hollywood career, it’s pretty awesome that Willow is able to become passionate about something as strong as ending human slavery at such a young age.

Tell us Babble readers, what kind of issues or world events do you talk with your children about? Do you think Willow might be too young to talk to about human trafficking or do you applaud her for being able to talk about it with her parents? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
