Jeopardy Watson: Will Machines Take Over the World?

Jeopardy Watson seems like something out of a science fiction movie: a computer so smart that it can outwit humans. Wasn’t this a Transformers movie? The Rise of the Machines?

But, if you were watching Jeopardy this week, you saw Watson, a computer, competing against two of Jeopardy’s all-time best players.  Last night, Watson was winning by such a large margin, it wasn’t even interesting to watch any more and had me thinking Go away, Watson.

But, it was a two-day tournament, so there was a chance, even though it was slight, for Ken Jennings or Brad Rutter to come back and beat Watson. But, who won?

Well, Jeopardy was a little closer today headed into final Jeopardy than it was yesterday, but the final scores for the two day tournament were Brad: 21,600; Ken, 24,000; and Watson at 77,147.

Ken Jennings probably put it best when he wrote along with his final Jeopardy answer, “I for one welcome our new computer overlord.”
