'Jersey Shore' Premiere Highest Ratings in MTV History?

Jersey Shore Season 3 Episode 1

The Jersey Shore premiere was one of the highest rated shows for MTV.  The third season premiere of Jersey Shore had over 8 million viewers watching Snooki and the gang!

According to the Associated Press, the premiere of Jersey Shore season three was “the most watched series telecast in the cable network’s history, MTV announced Friday.”

MTV reported 8.45 million total viewers tuned in to the show. In case you haven’t seen Jersey Shore, the reality series follows a group of twenty-something friends who party hard in JERSEY.  The series has become so popular that MTV just signed a deal with Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio to star in his own spin-off series.

New cast member to Jersey Shore,  Deena Cortese is going to fit in just fine. Deena declared herself a “blast in a glass.” Did we mention Deena is shy? The New York Times even weighed on on Jersey Shore today, featuring an interview with Chris Linn, MTV Executive VP of Programming and Head of Production.

“At the end of the day they haven’t changed They’re still true to who they are. They’re the same characters that we fell in love with in the first season.”

And that’s a good thing?
