Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey Are Engaged - But Not With Each Other!

Oddly enough, just a week after ex-hubby Nick Lachey announced his engagement to Vanessa Minnillo, Jessica Simpson was spotted with a massive rock on her ring finger. Reports are now saying that Eric Johnson and Jessica Simpson are indeed engaged!

“Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!” her rep told People.

As for the odd timing of the two engagements and whether or not she is happy for Nick, Simpson discussed the matter with Ryan Seacrest.

“I don’t know where all those rumors came from,” Simpson told Seacrest on Thursday. “My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was ‘saddened.’ I was just in complete shock. I couldn’t be more happy for Nick.”

Many have either suggested that the two are jealous of one another’s happiness or hope for a reconciliation.

“Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa,” she said. “I do, and I wish them nothing but the best.”

Is anyone else holding out hope that Nick and Jess will get back together again? It almost seems as though they are trying to get one another’s attention. What do you think?
