Eric Johnson refuses to sign a prenup with Jessica Simpson.

It almost seemed like Jessica Simpson’s life was finally finding its happy existence, after a publicized divorce from Nick Lachey and painful relationships with John Mayer and Tony Romor. Simpson had finally found the man of her dreams, fiance Eric Johnson, built a billion dollar empire, and became pregnant with her first child. But all of her happiness may come crashing down as Johnson refuses to sign a prenup, affecting Jess‘ wishes to get married before the baby!

Johnson is insisting he gets equal portions of Jess‘ fortune, worth $700 million to $1 billion.

“Eric’s completely changed his mind,” an insider tells OK!. “He started dragging his feet, refusing to sign the prenup they’d drawn up; now he’s laying this whole guilt-trip on her about how he believes in true love and she should, too. A lot of people feel she’s been totally betrayed.”

“Eric knows how important it was to her to be married before the baby was born,” says the source. “She wanted to rush the wedding so that her child wouldn’t be born out of wedlock, and she wouldn’t walk down the aisle with this massive bump. And he’s basically used that as a bargaining chip.”

But, GossipCop insists Simpson and Johnson never had a wedding date set, and there’s no marriage ceremony from which Johnson is “backing out.”

According to GC, both parties have been on the same page regarding a prenup from the very beginning.

A source close to Simpson further tells them, “There was never a wedding date officially set, and now they have decided to put the planning on hold until the baby is here.”
