Jessica Simpson Shows Her REAL Body After Baby (Thank Goodness)!Shana Aborn
Recognize this famous mom?
We followed her religiously for months after she announced that she and her fiance were expecting their first baby. We watched her belly swell (a little too much, according to some) and took bets on the due date. Then we oohed and aahed when her precious daughter made her debut on the cover of a national magazine.
Now that Maxwell Drew is all of a month and 11 days old, all eyes are on Jessica Simpson to see how quickly she can get back to her pre-baby shape.
So are all camera lenses. A quick-on-the-shutter paparazzo got in a few shots of Jess’s back as she walked through the parking lot of a gym.
And before the night is out, you know that the gossip sites will start the snarkfest about her not-yet-svelte figure. They’ll use phrases like wide load and chunky, and maybe worse.
To which we say, yet again: Lay off!
Just because Beyonce ate nothing but air for four months to shed 60 pounds after having baby Blue Ivy doesn’t mean that every other new mother can or should do the same. If anything, she set a lot of women up for unrealistic expectations – not to mention a whooooole lotta guilt when they fail to become bikini-ready before the baby rolls over for the first time.
Let’s hope Ms. Simpson won’t get down on herself if she doesn’t achieve that goal. Not that she doesn’t have the motivation: In addition to working out, Jessica has a deal with Weight Watchers that will net her a cool $3 million if she gets skinny within a year. Plus there’s her upcoming wedding to Eric Johnson to plan for.
If her diet and workout regime help her reach her goals on deadline, good for her. But if it takes a little longer than expected, making jokes or shaming her isn’t going to help.
Frankly, it’s nice to see a celebrity look like a regular mom, extra pounds and all. What’s more important – doing 500 crunches or spending that time singing lullabies to a darling baby girl?
