Jill Scott Says Motherhood Was A Shock

jill-scott-motherhood-post-partum-depressionJill Scott didn’t have the best first couple of months of motherhood. She said they weren’t the divine experience she was hoping and dreaming of.

She told Chelsea Handler, “I’m going to keep it real gully with you, the first two months I wanted to give him back.”
She added: “I expected someone to come and save me because after you have the baby, nobody cares about you anymore. Nobody cares if you sleep, nobody cares if you eat. It’s just you and this all-consuming thingy!”

She said the adjustment period was rough.

Preaching to the choir, honey, preaching to the choir. It doesn’t seem to get better as they get older. When the kids wake you up every time instead of their dad, because he’s sleeping, it gets to be too much.

“One day, when I was standing by the door and I was considering throwing him out into the pool — sleep deprivation is ugly — at that very moment I looked and said, ‘Ah! I love you!’ And that’s what did it.”

I totally understand where she is coming from. It helps to know that others are going through the same thing you are. You are not alone.
