Since the original announcement that John Travolta, 56, and Kelly Preston, 47, are expecting a baby, they’ve seemed mum on the topic — until now. The couple spoke to People magazine about their joy and long-time desire to add to their family
“We tried for several years, and we didn’t think it was going to happen for us,” they said in an interview.”This is a miracle, and we feel blessed.”
The piece clears up the speculation that the couple is trying to “replace” son Jett who passed away last year. What it doesn’t seem to clear up is this: did the couple undergo IVF?
As for the theory of trying to replace their son, a source says that is absolutely not the case. A family friend says, “They can never replace him” and that the couple “always wanted to have more kids.”
I do think one question people might have is if the couple underwent IVF. Granted, it’s none of our business. But I appreciate when celebrities share that information (like Celine Dion) so women understand that fertility does get more difficult into your late 30s and 40s, and often extreme measures are needed to have a baby — and fertility treatments are nothing to be ashamed about. Of course perhaps that’s not the case here — and however it occurred, the world couldn’t be happier for their family.
