Can’t get enough of Jon and Kate Gosselin? Have no fear, their 15-minutes aren’t up, yet. The couple may have started out as just regular folk who happen to have eight kids, a set of twins and sextuplets, but they are much more than that now. Some say they are even more popular than Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt!
How they are building an empire:
Kate isn’t just a mom of mulitples, she’s also written two NY Times best-selling books: Multiple Bles8ings and Eight Little Faces, which she just finished promoting on tour. She has another hitting store shelves, titled Making Meals into Memories (I think I need this one!), on October 13. No doubt it will be a big hit like her previous two books.
The busy mom is also spokesperson for Healthtex children’s clothing line.
Kate also travels around the country for speaking engagements about what it’s like raising multiples.
Other rumors (which have not been confirmed) of how the Gosselins will earn money to raise their huge brood: Kate may be coming out with a sunglass line and husband Jon could have his own snowboard line.
College tuition isn’t cheap, got to have some way to pay for all of those kids!
How Jon and Kate are possibly more popular than ‘Brangelina’ from MSNBC.COM:
According to different industry sources, last week’s issue of People magazine with Jon opening up about his marriage was one of the year’s best selling — some early estimates have sales hitting the 1.8 million mark. (A rep for People says, “While it’s too early to give an exact sales number, we can say that it looks to be a very strong seller for People.”)
During editorial meetings at several weeklies, the decision over who to devote resources to came down to a choice between the Gosselins and the Jolie-Pitts.
“We never thought that there’d be a reality show couple not just vying for ink in the pages, but selling on par with the Jolie-Pitts,” one editor said. “I think it speaks to the time we’re in. We want celebrities we can relate to. When Angie has a baby, we can relate to that. When she’s filming a movie, it’s interesting, but it’s missing that ‘I’ve been through that, too’ connection. Parenting struggles, marriage problems, cute kids? That resonates. People want to know they aren’t alone in what they’re going through. It’s part of what makes it the Gosselin’s time.”
I’m guessing Jon and Kate will be around for a while yet – people want to know what’s going to happen to this family. Will they survive and be able to pull together? Will the Gosselins have another 10 years together?
