Julia Roberts Learns Her Lesson - Stay Away from Religion and PoliticsEmma Brady
The move comes after she mentioned converting to Hinduism in the current issue of Elle magazine. What followed was a flurry of press on her conversion at the expense of her publicity blitz to support the movie.
Roberts was inspired by her experience reading the book Eat Pray Loveand filming the movie to explore the Hindu religion. She made a short mention of her conversion from Catholicism to Hinduism during an interview with the fashion mag.
Due to the media response to the news, she’s decided its time to focus on what she knows – acting.
“I’ve realized something my mother told me 22 years ago,” she said at a Tokyo press conference today. “You’re an actor, act. Don’t talk about politics or religion.”
Eat Pray Love earned $23.7 million in its first weekend of release.
