Kate Gosselin and Her Kids Get Ready for Christmas!Shana Aborn
It’s busier than Santa’s workshop in the Gosselin household these days as mom Kate and her eight children make their holiday plans.
Kate has been sharing some of the details (and photos) with her fans on Twitter.
One of the first items on the to-do list, of course, is shopping! Christmas and birthdays are the two major kid-goody-buying times for Kate. But with eight children to buy for, it’s not a task that can be put off until the last minute. So the busy mom has been doing her buying online, which saves not only time but also the effort of having to get all her purchases home. She finds that Amazon most often has the best bargains, and she admits to being tempted to go overboard. “It could be said that amazon.com is convenient and and enjoyable but OH so dangerous #myexcuseisChristmas,” she sighs.
To keep her spending in check, Kate says she makes a list for each child at the beginning of the season and tries to stay within a budget. And if she finds herself tempted to grab too many impulse purchases, “sometimes I put stuff in my cart and leave it sit for a while ————> self-induced ‘cool off’ period.”
All the loot for the young Gosselins goes into Kate’s room, which is designated off-limits for the duration. But sometimes her plan backfires: “Mom’s room = Santa’s workshop and oops some kids have accidentally glimpsed the mtn! :(”
Kate’s days have also been filled with such activities as ordering the Christmas ham, buying toys for a local Toys for Tots drive and contemplating getting a Santa hat for their dog. This weekend, she also got a trial run on holiday treat-making by making a huge load of cookies and lemon squares for the kids’ school lunches.
The children have been busy too — making their lists and checking them twice! Kate posted this sweet one from Collin, whose wants are modest ones: LEGOs, an art set and his favorite sibling, older sister Cara. “Here’s THE most precious list I’ve seen!”
Unlike past years, Kate’s eight will be spending the entire holiday with her rather than going to dad Jon’s. It’s a decision the children made on their own, and Kate says that though it’s important for them to see both parents, she’s honoring their wishes in this case.
How about you? Are you as far along in your plans as Kate?
