Kate Gosselin on "Dancing With the Stars": Rooting for a Fellow Mom!

By shanaaborn |

Kate Gosselin is running, not dancing.

When the new “All-Stars” season of Dancing With the Stars was announced, there was a lot of speculation (and, yes, much chuckling) over whether Kate Gosselin would be asked back for another shot at the mirror ball. Her appearance a few years ago was, um, less than successful, and the anti-Kate faction was only too happy to see her voted out early in the competition.

But though Kate didn’t make the cut this time ’round, she wishes only the best to the celebs who will soon be returning to the dance floor. This week in her Coupon Cabin blog, the former star of Kate Plus 8 takes a break from writing money-saving tips to comment on the season 15 contestants.

“First of all, congratulations to ALL of the contestants for returning to the dance floor,” she writes. “This time around, they are fully aware of the grueling hours of dancing that lie ahead of them and made the choice to return.”

She adds that they’re “braver than perhaps I would be” to show off their terpsichorean skills to millions via live TV.

Kate hasn’t watched all the DWTS seasons, so she hasn’t seen some of these returning contestants in action. In particular, she’s looking forward to watching Drew Lachey, Emmitt Smith, Helio Castroneves, Kelly Monaco and Gilles Marini.

She’s also interested to see how Apolo Ohno, Shawn Johnson and Melissa Rycroft fare. She writes, “I have met the amazing Apolo and the lovely Melissa and I remember studying their routines (and Shawn’s, who I have not met) on a laptop while practicing my own dancing, thinking “HOW do they do that?”

However, Kate does admit that there is one particular contestant she favors to go all the way. Can you guess who it is?

It’s Pamela Anderson, who competed with Kate in Season 10!

Kate and Pam bonded with each other as fellow moms while they got their hair styled before tapings. Pamela has two teen sons, Dylan and Brandon, while Kate, of course, has twin daughters going on 12 and her sextuplets, who turned eight in May.

Other women in the cast are also parents – Kirstie Alley and Bristol Palin among them – but Pamela holds a place in Kate’s heart for other reasons, too.

“Naturally, Pam Anderson will get my votes this season because she is a fellow Season 10 castmate and because, in my opinion, she’s braver than brave because she was not a finalist in our season and is the only contestant going into Season 15 with that status,” Kate writes. (For the record, Pam finished sixth.) “It may seem little, but it’s the little things that can mess with your head! I know Pam will block it out and conquer it.”

Does Kate have any regrets about not being selected to tango and cha-cha again? It doesn’t seem that way. She freely admits that her DWTS experience was terrifying. “I tried so hard to LOVE it, and I did as much as I could, but my experience taught me to hang on, hang tough and give it my ALL even if something comes my way in life that just doesn’t feel like it’s ‘me,’ ” she says.

So when the new season premieres on September 24, you won’t find Kate noshing on sour grapes. She’ll happily be watching the action from the family room, along with Cara, Mady, Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah, and hoping Pamela moves ahead of the pack.

How about you? Which returning celeb dancer will you be rooting for?
