kate middleton wedding dress detailsKate Middleton wedding dress is still a hot topic!  New details are coming out about the the secret bridal dress designed by Sarah Burton for the House of McQueen.  In a statement from the palace, it was revealed what the bride wanted:

“Miss Middleton wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterizes Alexander McQueen’s work.

When Catherine Middleton walked down the aisle on Friday morning in her timeless, lace floral dress, wedding watchers were astonished.

The wedding dress was embellished with extremely intricate lace.  According to CBS Early Show Style Contributor Katrina Szish, the lace was from the Royal School of Needlework:

“It was handmade appliqued lace made by the Royal School of Needlework – hand done. They actually had to wash their hands every 30 minutes to keep it clean. The needles were changed every three hours to keep them sharp. Here you can see some of that lace applique. It was Chantilly lace and English lace. It included rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock designs. This is one of those dresses, every detail was important.”

In an interview with CBS, Allen B. Schwartz, creative director of ABS by Allen Schwartz, said that Sarah Burton’s wedding dress design is likely to be copied:

“I think the reason that new brides, of course, will want to wear this dress because, actually, it’s a very forgiving dress. It’s very elegant.”
