She’s chic, she’s stylish, and she knows how to make an understated look timeless, so it’s no wonder that Kate Middleton is a style icon for not only new moms, but for women all over the world. So naturally, when she stepped out from the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London on Tuesday wearing a baby blue knee-length polka-dot dress (which was fit for the occasion), fashionistas went nuts!
Let’s just call it the Kate effect for now.
The Duchess wore a Jenny Packham number, but according to the designer, the dress isn’t for sale. The label’s brand director, Blaire McColl, confirmed to Vanity Fair that the simple, yet uber chic polka-dot dress was made exclusively for the Duchess of Cambridge and the company has no plans to make it available for purchase.
And while die-hard Kate Middleton style fans can’t get their hands on her exact dress, I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m sure Target and Penneys and Primark across the pond are going to have knock-off dresses available in no time!
In the meantime, Prince George’s first swaddle blanket has sold out within 24 hours of his royal debut by first-time mommies wanting to copy the Prince’s look. Like a true king, baby.
