Oscar winner Kate Winslet is getting in touch with her inner YA geek. It was confirmed today that the mom of two will be starring in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s young adult best seller Divergent.
Kate Winslet will be playing the cold and calculating Jeanine Matthews, the leader of the faction Erudite. Having read the series, she seems like a great feat of casting. She has that intelligent air along with the allure of someone who is a leader.
The film adaptation of Divergent (which is being produced by Summit Entertainment who is owned by Lions Gate) will be, surely, well received, following in the footsteps of other YA books turned into film such as Twilight and The Hunger Games.
The film is set to come out in March of 2014.
Also confirmed in the film are Shailene Woodley and the British newcomer Theo James in starring roles.
