When Katheine Heigl first adopted her daughter Naleigh with her husband Josh Kelley, she almost expected an immediate mother and daughter bond from her 10-month-old daughter. But unfortunately for the actress, that didn’t happen. In fact, it took some time before Katherine was able to bond with her daughter.
She tells German paper Bild am Sonntag:
“People are always talking about the strong bond between mother and daughter, this magical connection – but we didn’t have that.”
She also described the early days with Naleigh as “the hardest time in my life. … I fought incredibly hard for my daughter to accept me as mother. Her rejection almost broke my heart.”
Tell us, what have your experiences been with your adopted children, Famecrawler readers? Did it take some time to build a bond the same way Katherine did with her daughter, too?
